USES  –

• used in narcolepsy
• It increases attention span and improve accuracy.
• It helps people who works at night shift to help them awake and alert.
• It has Also been found to reduce euphoria produced by cocaine, and it suppresses cocaine withdrawal syndrome.

Side effects – 

• Insomnia
• Headache
• Nausea
• Dyspepsia
• Dizziness
• Amnesia
• Hypertension

Absorbed within 2 to 4 hours

Half-life is 15 hours , duration of action is 4 hours . Excretion is through urine  and Bioavailability is not determined due to aqueous insolubility.

Dose -100 to 200 mg morning and afternoon for narcolepsy, sleep apnea syndrome.

Or 200 mg 1 hour before starting night shift work.
